Dunnet Church, like Canisbay is cruciform in shape and traces parts of the building back to the 13th Century, and retains its traditional layout with box pews. The church is located to the rear of the Northern Sands Hotel.
The church catchment area includes the hamlets of Barrock, Brough, Lochend, part of Scarfskerry, and Dunnet Head, which is the most northerly point on the British Mainland. It is an area of exceptional natural beauty with cliffs and long sandy beaches.
At the base of the access stairway to the tower there is a memorial to one of its most celebrated ministers, the Rev Timothy Pont (1601---1610), who was a well known cartographer.
Our Sunday worship takes place at 12 noon, with Communion twice yearly. We use Complete Mission Praise and share a regular organist with Olrig church.
Communion is also held on Maundy Thursday evening and everyone is welcome to attend. We have Praise and Fellowship over tea and coffee.
Access to the church is step-free, but is via a long path which runs to the west side of the hotel. Parking adjacent to church is challenging as the obvious car parks either side belong to the hotel. Whilst there is a drop-off area there is no on-street parking. There is a free carpark in front of the village hall 100m to the east.
Sound reinforcement and induction loop are available.
