Cynthia Grant has been playing the organ for sixty years at Keiss Church of Scotland – her parents were actively involved with the church (her father was an Elder) – she was initially asked to play for two Sundays and Cynthia said ‘that was me’ – it has gone on ever since. Cynthia was presented with a certificate of long service award signed by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland. It was presented to her by Reverend Janet Easton-Berry and Susanna Mackay. Susanna is the granddaughter of a much loved elder of Keiss Church - Irene Mackay - who sadly passed away last year. Irene and Cynthia were great friends.
We are all so thankful to Cynthia for her dedicated service in playing the organ for us in all our services. Someone present made a comment about looking forward to being there for her next 60 year certificate!
More photographs appear in the Photo Gallery, one of which includes Christine Shearer – an elder at Canisbay Church which is one of the four churches making up Pentland Parish. Christine’s father was a Minister in Canisbay Church of Scotland – Reverend Bell. The flowers presented to Cynthia were beautifully arranged by Christine and the amazing cake was baked by Christine’s granddaughter Annie.
