His Majesty King Charles III at Canisbay Church

The sun shone brightly on Sunday 2nd August when His Majesty King Charles III paid his annual visit to the morning service in Canisbay church. The King said he has been coming to Canisbay church for 25 years which is indeed an honour for the church. The service took the form of a Songs of Praise and the large attendance heard contributions from the the EAGA Gospel Choir, winners of the BBC Gospel Choir of the Year 2023 competition, who made the long journey from Leicester. The EAGA Gospel Choir are no strangers to Canisbay as they sang at the Christmas Day service in 2025. The congregation also heard songs from the Rev Cleopas Takavada, of East Caithness Church of Scotland, and his family and also a choir formed from children from Canisbay, Crossroads and Castletown Primary schools. Local musicians Gordon Shearer and Gordon Gunn also contributed. The service was conducted by our minister Rev Janet Easton-Berry.
