It was an early start for the members who were working on the Pentland Parish stand at the Mey Highland Games in John O'Groats on a beautiful Saturday in August.  The Mey Highland Games is an annual event and features a vibrant array of traditional events, including the ever-popular tug o’ war, caber tossing, massed pipe bands, Highland dancing, track events, and novelty races.  The Games Chieftain is His Majesty King Charles III who made a welcome visit to the games in the afternoon.

The aim of the Pentland Parish stand was to provide an opportunity to promote the four churches in the parish and our church activities, and give interested people the opportunity to speak to a friendly face outside of the normal church setting.  Rob Petersen did a great job in involving and entertaining the children.

The following day (Sunday) was an important occasion for the parish as it was the Royal Service in Canisbay Church.  King Charles attended and also Lady Sarah Chatto and friends.  The service was conducted by our minister Rev Janet Easton-Berry, and there were contributions from the The Rev Canon Dr. Betsee Parker, Rob Petersen, Rob Easton-Berry and Brandon McPhee.
